There's still a bunch of pencil revision to do..but I started inking anyway. Oops.

Strip Mall
I'm still making short strips for RISD's online paper. It's nice to have a very small space to experiment with story/composition/colouring without much pressure. Also included below is a submission for a the "L O O M" zine curated by a couple of risd students.

What I'm doing with my life currently.
This fall I'm doing a collaborative independent study with Myken Bomberger and Anita Tung, mentored by the great Paul Karasik. We're each doing 30-50 page comics which will eventually all sit side-by-side in an anthology this winter. My comic has the working title of 'Eik' and is a kind of confusing complicated story about a character in another universe who repeatedly breaks up the social hierarchy and pays the price. But it's also about drawing little weird characters running around and trying to communicate in frenzied pantomime (metaphor for my life?). It's super intimidating since I've committed myself to 50(+?) pages and time is already ticking away.
I've made a bunch of process work in developing this so far, so enjoy some random images from the first stages of development.

First SPX!
This past weekend I went to SPX for the first time, and it was so great. I came back with a bunch of great comics and about 400% more psyched than I was going in. Below you'll find a silly sketchbook comic I made to document the event as well as some photos of *part* of my haul (Includes a signature from Chris ware on the copy of Lint I brought along from home).

Salty n' Fresh Cork Nuts For Sale
Hey! Remember when I was all like "I'm making this thing called Cork Nut!" a while ago? Well I did make it, quelle suprise. Cork Nut #1 is a weird little 24-pager zine which is 75% comics, 15% drawings, 10% monosodium glutamate. It includes all of Bagel as well as other drawings and sketchbook comics from my stay in Montréal. A sort of documentation of a time period, I guess.
WANT ONE? You can get your very own copy on my bigcartel RIGHT HERE!!!
Anyway, pix below...

Human Assembly
En bas, you'll see Human Assembly, my submission for Lodacal Comix #7. NSFW, hide the children. Actually don't, it's nothing they haven't seen before.
Also included in this post are some sketches from coffee shops (Olimpico, Club Social) of late. I'm struggling with a recent addiction to the iced soy lattes from Club Social. They're a reasonable size (unlike any American drink) but very sugary, and they emerge from some sort of sweetened coffee slushie machine. I gotta get back to my black allongés, it's far more respectable.

By the way, it's over.
Here it is, the last page of bagel. It's sickly sweet so make sure to brush your teeth afterwards. Bagel and other drawings/sketchbook things will be included in a little zine-y type thing I'm gonna print once I return to providence, entitled Cork Nut #1. Cover is below!

Let's just have this moment last forever
Me and my bagel, in rapture, for eternity. Or being in Montreal. I'm not looking forward to leaving this place!
Below you will find page 10 of Bagel as well as a couple snippets from the first three pages of another (4-page) comic I'm working on right now called Human Assembly. NSFW.

Light at the End of The Tunnel
(also known as bagel page nine)
only two more pages left, but I've got some other projects goin on right now so progress is slowing. eventually i'd like to put bagel in a zine with some other random sketchbook stuff made over this summer.
OPEN THE IMAGE IN A NEW TAB
p.s. if this one looks a little weird, it's cos it's franken-image edited in six parts from a crappy digital camera image. derp.

Two More Bagels
Namely, page seven and eight. I'm gonna wrap this baby up soon before i gets out of hand. Open them in a new tab to see the non-blurry version.
p.s. anyone good at blogspot know how to deal with this issue that i'm guessing is compression?

I don't actually hate children, really.
They're just the tiny imps of my nightmares is all. But for realz, in my current neighborhood they are a legitimate threat to one's well-being, if one wishes to use the sidewalks.
Oh, and here's page six of Bagel. (sigh. look at it big plz)

Ah, The Great Outdoors
Page five of the Bagel comic. On this page, I just kind of drew what I wanted to draw. And it felt very natural, although perhaps slightly less narrative. Fuhl-vyoo.

Sitting around with Bagels
You'll find below:
-Page four of the bagel comic. I decided to change a few things about how I approach the story/the drawing for the next few pages after this one so I'm no longer sure how long it will be. Planning's for squares and successful people!
-Some little watercolours I made on the paper that my parents were so kind as to mail to me all the way from the PacNW. The first couple were scanned but the others were just captured with my crappy digital camera so they are a little dark/weird.
Enjoy & Fullview xoxoxox
